Shango
Shango is Nana Buluku's son, a young Galloway steer and one of the happiest animals at the Sanctuary. He is a complete bubble of joy, full of curiosity and affection, and very much a proper mama's boy.
About Shango
Shango is a young Galloway steer and an absolute little ray of sunshine. He is curious, playful and incredibly affectionate, and somehow always seems to be in the middle of whatever is happening. 🐮
He is Nana Buluku's son, and the bond between them is very sweet. Shango is definitely a proper mama's boy. Even though he is growing bigger and more independent, he still loves staying close to her and their relationship is one of the most beautiful things to watch.
He has also become very close to Mbaba Mwana. The three of them spend their days together, eating, resting, playing and exploring their fields. Mbaba Mwana is actually a Jersey calf and not Nana's daughter, but she has been completely accepted into their little family.
Shango is also helping Nana in her relationship with humans. He is much more confident and affectionate, and his willingness to come close often makes it easier for Nana to feel safe around us too. Over time, she has started allowing us more contact.
Unique trait: the happiness. Shango is one of those animals who seems genuinely delighted to be alive. He is basically a big, fluffy bubble of joy with a very strong attachment to his mama. 🫶
